I started off my career as an accountant, and after too many years to mention of training, I actually got out into the real world and started to take on clients. The one thing that I noticed almost immediately was that every single one of my clients was so greedy! Nobody employs an accountant to go through their books – we were employed purely to find loop holes, lose or hide money, and generally beat the system for our clients. This obviously put us accountants at risk in all sorts of ways and it wasn’t a position I enjoyed being in.

I decided that I wanted to move into a different arena, but it’s difficult to change industries when you are already qualified for something quite specific. Because of this I decided to set up on my own. I knew that I wanted to stay within the financial market in some way or another – it just didn’t make any sense to deviate away from what I knew. I spoke to a friend who had a great business model and I decided to follow him down the route of becoming an insurance broker.
I had all the contacts, I just needed the clients! Fortunately for me, I came across a great website which could find all of the leads I needed! It was a company called Insuranceleads.com and all you had to do was register with them and they would quite literally feed you quality leads whenever you needed them!

The return for me was great – I seemed to convert far more leads than I expected to, and before long I pretty much had more clients than I could cope with. It took me to the point where I simply had to hire somebody in to take some of the workload! Fast forward five years and I have seven capable staff, hundreds of clients and I get to sit back and watch the money rolling in!
