Getting rid of my debt after University

August 9, 2010 by: admin

University provided me with a great education and the time of my life, but by the time I had finished, I did wonder to myself whether it would ever be worth it to me financially. Of course, in theory I would now be able to command better jobs given that I had a degree, but the bottom line was that I had racked up so much debt over the four years that I was studying that I felt as though I would be paying the debt back forever.
For the first couple of years I managed by paying the minimum payment on the debt every month, but this didn’t really work. It was only after a while that I noticed that the amount I owed was not really coming down. I soon started to pay off more, but this made me stretch myself too far, and before I knew it, I was missing payments on all my cards.
By the time I had defaulted on two separate cards and had a letter from a debt collector for a third, I decided that it was time to take significant action. I had a bit of a look around online for a company who might be able to help me with my predicament, and I came across someone who claimed to be able to give me some credit card debt relief. This company seemed to really offer a solution, and they promised to draw my debts together so that I had one single payment to make every month. I knew that I had to go for this credit card consolidation because I was reaching the stage where I was going to be in big trouble.
Six months later and things are shaping up nicely. I am much closer to paying off my debts, and my payments are actually less than they were when I was paying them myself. I am just so glad that I took free debt relief.
