People who have bad credit have many more credit card options today than they did just a few years ago. Maybe this is contributed to the theory of supply and demand or maybe the credit card companies just realized how much more money they can make by charging high interest rates to people with bad credit. I personally think it may be a little of both.

But no matter what the reason why, there are many credit card companies willing to grant credit to people with bad credit these days. This is good news to those with tarnished credit records. But people with bad credit should evaluate what actions got their credit into bad shape in the first place before applying for more credit. For many people their bad credit is due to uncontrollable circumstances like the loss of a job or medical reasons. But for other people, their bad credit is due to irresponsible financial decisions. If you have bad credit and it was caused by the second reason, it is imperative that you change your credit habits. Otherwise you will never improve your credit score and will always end up paying high interest rates and fees.
Higher interest rates are obviously the price you have to pay in order to obtain a credit card if you have bad credit.

Fortunately, if you are responsible with your bad credit credit card and make your monthly payments on time, over time you can improve your credit score and eventually get a lower interest rate. Make sure that the bad credit credit card you are applying for frequently reports to the major credit bureaus. This will insure that your credit score will improve as quickly as possible by having your positive payment activity reported.

There are credit card websites that have researched the best bad credit credit card deals available and have listed them in an easy to read format. Visit http://www.amex-visa-mastercard.com to look at the details. Many of the bad credit credit cards listed on this site do monthly credit bureau reporting.

We have all run into hard times and made mistakes with our credit activity. Thankfully there are bad credit credit card offers available that will still give you the freedom of having a credit card along with giving you the chance to rebuild your credit.

————————-

Note: This article may be freely reproduced as long as the authors bio paragraph at the bottom of this article is included, the article is published “as is” (unedited) and all URL’s are made active hyperlinks with no syntax changes.

————————-

By: Beth Pardue

About the Author:

If you have credit challenge one of the best ways to reestablish good credit is through prepaid or secured credit cards. Responsible people that once had good credit can take important steps to better their credit score by using these two types of cards. They have become very popular by a growing segment of the population.

SECURED CARDS

Cardholders that use this method will deposit a sum that usually exceeds the stated credit limit established by the issuer. This serves to create a good payment record which is critical in rebuilding your credit rating. If payment is not made the issuer can take funds from the account and is protected. One might ask “if I have the funds, why use a credit card?” Remember, we are trying to improve our credit score and this is an excellent method to achieve that goal.

PREPAID CREDIT CARDS

A prepaid credit card is similar to a secured card but in reality is not a credit card at all. A prepaid credit card acts more like a debit card, funds are taken from a prepaid deposit. One advantage over a secured card is there is no preset limit. You may deposit any amount in the account and draw up to that amount. Repairing bad credit is the goal here and many issuers offer these cards because of their low risk. Set up fees and monthly fees may apply so survey the market. Watch the fee structure so you do not end paying a large percentage in annual fees. The fine print is sometimes over looked by a consumer but in this case it should be closely read.

These types of cards are excellent for responsible high school students and college students away from home. Spending can be controlled and the student has a leg up on establishing credit. Your son or daughter will be very thankful you helped them do this after they graduate and apply for a standard card.

By: William Sears

About the Author:

If you have a less than perfect credit record then take heart, you most certainly are not alone. You may also find it difficult to get credit cards bad credit will do that. There are, however, options available to you and we are going to explain what those are.

There are several reasons why people may experience difficulty getting approved for credit. First and foremost, many people are experiencing difficulties paying their bills because they are unemployed. As of this writing the unemployment rate nationwide is above 10%.

Perhaps you are facing catastrophic medical bills or other expenses that are stretching your resources to their limits. In many cases a poor credit history is simply due to an individual not managing their finances responsibly.

Regardless of how you came to be in your current situation you should know that there most definitely are options available in the form of secured, prepaid and unsecured credit cards. Let’s take a look at these categories and you can decide which one best meets your financial needs.

Secured Cards

Secured cards are excellent for rebuilding a credit score that has been damaged. By showing that you can responsibly manage a small credit limit you will then be rewarded with higher lines of credit. Also, the issuers of secured credit cards report your progress to the major credit bureaus which will in time improve your credit rating.

Prepaid, Preloaded and Debit Cards

Prepaid, preloaded and debit cards are all pretty much different ways of describing the same thing. These can be ideal credit cards bad credit because you are actually using your own funds which are deposited into a checking account therefore there is no need to get approval and they can be used to make purchases just as you would with a credit card.

Unsecured Cards

Unsecured cards are actual lines of credit granted by banks and financial institutions. Examples of unsecured cards would be Bank of America, Chase, American Express and Discover card. If you have a bad credit history your chances of getting an unsecured card are not very good so it is suggested that you look to secured and prepaid cards instead.

So as you can see there most definitely are viable options available to you. There are in fact a large number of secured, preloaded and debit cards on the market currently and that number is growing fast in order to meet the rapidly rising demand. Finding the right card for you is simply a matter of knowing what to look for.

By: Morgan Hamilton

About the Author:

We all know having a good credit score is a necessary thing in life. Having a good credit score means you have an easier time with buying a new home or buying a new car and many other major purchases you may make. But attaining that good credit score and keeping it isn’t always very easy, and if you’ve got a low credit score from previous mistakes you might have made, getting another credit card to use to rebuild your score can be quite difficult.

One solution is what is known as a secured credit card. This is a type of card that is basically meant for people with low credit scores who are therefore considered high risk. When opening a secured credit card account, you will put down a deposit, which the credit company will hold as collateral in the event you default on your payments. In other words, the card issuer will use that deposit to try to recover their money should you not make the payments necessary to meet your obligations.

Secured credit cards have credit limits like “regular” cards, and they vary from program to program. It is not unheard of for your limit to be the same as the deposit you’ve put down, meaning if you deposit 200 dollars to open the account, then your card’s limit will be 200 dollars. Other programs may allow you to have a limit that is more or less than the deposit amount, depending, with people with higher credit scores getting the higher limits as opposed to the lower limits people with worse credit scores may get.

If you’re considering getting a secured card to help repair your credit, make sure you read all of the fine print before opening the account. Though you will be required to put down a deposit that is ostensibly there to act as collateral if you default, card issuers often only go ahead and use that deposit when the account is closed completely. This means that if you are late on a payment, the card issuer may not take the payment from your deposit, and instead charge you late fees and interest for a while before they use your deposit. In this way, you can manage to end up with even more debt than you started with if you are not careful.

As long as you remain vigilant about making your payments and carefully inspect the terms before agreeing to open up an account, a secured credit card may be a good option for you if you’re looking repair past credit mistakes or have no credit to begin with. Just bear in mind that they are easier to acquire than “regular” credit cards because they can often land you in more hot water later due to their fees and restrictions.

By: Jim Jameson

About the Author:

Getting approved for a Visa credit card with bad credit is tricky. On
one hand, there are lenders eager to help you rebuild credit or
establish credit. On the other hand, some lenders only approve applicants with
a solid credit history. If you have bad credit, a bad credit Visa card
is useful. Here are a few tips to help you get approved.

Benefit of Having a Credit Card

Credit cards serve a convenient purpose. If you are reserving airline
tickets, renting a car, etc, having access to a credit card makes the
transaction smoother. Furthermore, credit cards are great to have during
a crisis. Ironically, emergencies tend to occur when we are financially
strapped. When used responsibly, credit cards can provide an immediate
solution to money woes.

Unfortunately, having no credit history may place you in the same class
as a person with bad credit. In both instances, lenders are unconvinced
of your credit worthiness. An applicant with no history could possibly
misuse credit, whereas a person with bad credit has a history of using
credit unwisely.

Nonetheless, there are ways to prove credit worthiness. If you have no
credit history, acquiring a credit card is the first step to
establishing credit. Moreover, if you have bad credit, obtaining a bad credit
Visa card is an ideal way to re-establish credit and boost credit score.

How to Get Approved for a Bad Credit Visa Card?

If you are having a difficult time getting approved for a Visa credit
card, consider applying for credit at a retail store. These credit
accounts are easier to obtain. Further, once you have been making regular
payments, it may become easier to get qualified for a major credit card.

Another option involves contacting your bank or credit union and
inquiring about bad credit Visa cards. Being a current customer may put you
at an advantage. If all else fails, attempt to get approved for a
secured credit card. This generally involves opening a savings account. In
this instance, the savings account serves as collateral.

If you have no credit history, it may help to ask a family member to be
a co-signer. Also, being added to another person’s credit account is a
good way to establish credit. Fortunately, individuals with no credit
history can easily get approved for a bad credit Visa card.

By: Carrie Reeder

About the Author:

When you need to obtain a mortgage for bad credit, there are a couple options you have to choose from. Before you commit to anything, it is crucial that you know your options and spend some time thinking about this important decision. Whatever you decide is something you may be stuck facing and paying off for the next 30 years, so do not take this decision lightly.

Your mortgage for bad credit options are basically the following:

1. Search for and try to find the best offer with your current credit situation
2. Focus on credit restoration to qualify for preferred treatment

There are a number of companies and organizations that will approve you for a home loan no matter what your credit score, but that comes with major consequences. You’re likely to pay outrageous fees and the interest you’ll pay on the loan will be two to three times the average rate.

As a result, not only will it cost you hundreds or even thousands of dollars more to live in your home every month, but by the time you pay off your mortgage it could cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars more. That’s because each month you pay your mortgage, more money is sent to the bank to pay interest than to actually owning your home. You’re simply paying a fee.

Whether you need a mortgage for bad credit to purchase a new home, refinance your current home, or buy a second home, you’ll end up paying more with these plans – and not just in mortgage payments. Because of your bad credit, your closing costs could be higher and you may end up paying private mortgage insurance (PMI), which is nothing more than a fee because of your bad credit score.

This can all be entirely eliminated by simply planning 30 – 90 days before you purchase your home. By putting a little effort in restoring your credit, you can erase any worries about getting approved for a mortgage. In doing so you’ll save thousands of dollars in the process and reduce your closing costs.

By: Ryan J. Nowadays, many regulations have been laid down to regulate the functioning of these money-lending institutions.

What all evoke people to go for them?

At times, people take these and loans and fail to repay the outstanding dues due to the lack of funds or for any other reason.

A second chance credit card is geared toward people who have for various reasons, purposely or not, made mistakes related to their credit card usage. The issuers of this type of card believe that the consumer deserves a second chance in order to prove their creditworthiness.

These cards are also called “bad credit” credit cards. The whole reason behind this concept is to provide the consumer with an opportunity to improve their credit by practicing good spending habits. They normally offer the same benefits as a “standard” card.

There are several types of second chance cards. Which one you will qualify for depends on how good, or bad, your credit is. Some people will qualify for an unsecured card, while others may qualify for a secured card or possibly even a prepaid card.

It is wise to contact a credit provider prior to applying for one of the cards. A credit provider will be able to guide you to the best financial product. It is important to know which type of card to apply for because any denied application will adversely affect your credit score further.

An unsecured second chance card is very much like a typical MasterCard or Visa. The main difference being that these cards normally carry with them a much high annual percentage rate (APR). This means that the cardholder will pay a higher rate of interest if the cardholder does not pay the bill in full each month. The reason these unsecured second chance cards carry such a high APR is that the cardholder presents a higher risk to the credit company because of the cardholder’s past spending and payment behavior.

A secured card is different from an unsecured card in that a deposit is required before the secured card may be used. The deposit which the cardholder provides to the credit company then becomes the credit limit. If the cardholder misses a payment, the credit company will make the payment from the deposit on hand. If the cardholder is in good standing when the account is closed, the deposit will be returned

Both secured and unsecured credit cards can help a consumer to rebuild their credit score by reporting to the three major credit reporting agencies. This, of course, will require the cardholder to maintain good spending practices. After a while, the consumer will be able to qualify for better APRs and lower fees and charges.

Prepaid credit cards require the cardholder to “load” their credit card with funds through direct deposit or by going to specific locations which offer this service. Prepaid users will not see an increase in their credit score by using these because the provider is not offering a line of credit.

Second chance credit cards are beneficial for people who cannot qualify for “standard” credit, but who need the benefits. When searching for a second chance credit card, be sure to study the charges, fees, and APRs of each one so you can choose the best deal.

By: Mark C.
